  1. I'm completely at a loss. Nothing posted here about Planetfall now that the Kickstarter is out. No acknowledgement of the "Firestorm" KS being Armada only. No updates on the "August" rules sets. Not even a "we owe you guys some information and are working on it." Totally baffled. How do you keep making the same mistakes again and again?
  2. Yep...I'm waiting until I can work through all the rules before playing.
  3. LOL. If SG doles "Vacations" in the same way they do other things....maybe I'll take my chances.
  4. Cross-posted from General Discusion, because, well, i think it is relevant. PF 2.0 will be released someday, and it will likely be a good game. But customers won't come back because SG ignored the primary rule of hobby sales... People buy games/models because of the enjoyable experience they have when interacting (playing games, painting minis, reading fluff, etc.) with them. When a company ignores (SG), forgets, or foregoes (GW's "we make models") the idea that their responsibilities extend beyond a sale and into the shared realm of the customer's experience, they will not be successful. A lack of integrity and communication kills every business. If you don't talk to your customers (both players and retail) and if you don't speak the truth when you do...no amount of create game/mini design will over come that.
  5. @child9 I suspect it is already too late. PF 2.0 will be released someday, and it will likely be a good game. But customers won't come back because SG ignored the primary rule of hobby sales... People buy games/models because of the enjoyable experience they have when interacting (playing games, painting minis, reading fluff, etc.) with them. When a company ignores (SG), forgets, or foregoes (GW's "we make models") the idea that their responsibilities extend beyond a single sale and into the shared realm of the customer's experience, they will not be successful. The Gamer's Haven is one of the most successful mini-centric game stores in the Western United States. Rob specializes (to a degree) in mini games with lots of table space and convention support. He bought a ton of FSA and PF and taught the game to the customer base. The fact he is on here is indicative of how bad the situation is. When he replaces SG's product with something else...SG is very unlikely to ever get that space or promotion back. Which might be ok (but it really isn't) if they are going direct to consumer sales channel approach, which the Kickstarter indicates. The problem then becomes the lack of development and customer engagement. Bottom line...a lack of integrity and communication kills every business. If you don't talk to your customers (both players and retail) and if you don't speak the truth when you do...no amount of create game/mini design will over come that.
  6. I've been thinking all day about how to respond to this thread now that Adepticon is over. I've gone back and looked at Neil, Linde, and Mike's posts in this thread, reviewed Mike's exchange with us/me in early Feb, and thought about the future of my participation in this hobby. Setting aside all the individual points that could be said, I'm left with this.... At some point, this Spartan/customer dynamic stops being anything other than deliberate and either malicious or incompetent. I don't allow anyone in my life to treat me the way Spartan treats me. I do not accept this behavior from individuals in my life. I'm not going to accept it from a company. Loved the minis. Thorough enjoyed the game. I will miss it. Peace.
  7. Good post, Rob. Probably time to vote with your dollars, shelf space, and table space, my friend. At some point, this dynamic stops being anything other than deliberate and either malicious or incompetent. Its too bad...we had what 12 players or so buy PF stuff?
  8. @Zeph, I find your tagline humorously relevant today.
  9. @spartanmike, You certainly are passionate and engaged. Thank you for that. I hope that can carry you through the challenges to come. As your post notes, YOU are different than those that have come before you. I don't doubt that. And maybe you have the talent to succeed where others have failed. I hope that is true. But the crux of my discussion with you is to determine whether or not the systemic problems at Spartan have been identified and addressed. The people that came before you were talented, worked hard, and wanted the same things that we all discussing here...and they failed to deliver those outcomes. Multiple people failed because of some systematic shortfall in the processes or culture or leadership (or all of those things) at Spartan. If you don't know what those things are and someone is not actively working on fixing them, then we have no real reason to believe the future will be any different than the past. For me, such a understanding would/will be disappointing. But all of this is just discretionary income and free time for me...not a crisis. There are other games for my group to play and all this would become just a cautionary tale told around a game table. For you, that moment of understanding would/will have much broader, life-changing impacts. I hope, for your sake, that you are having productive and frank discussions with the leadership at Spartan. Enough said. Good luck. We are certainly willing to help; if you can figure out a productive way of allowing us to do that.
  10. @spartanmike, Welcome to our collective dichotomy of fun and disappointment, desire and a lack of integrity. Now its August before we get anything? I thought Linde said it was Adepticon? I have only one question for you...and I'm asking you personally since your your posts are a version of "trust me to do better." Why should we believe anything you say? Not because I think you are duplicitous or intend to deceive us, but because you are now working for an organization that has had a somewhat non-monogamous relationship with the truth. How is your position/effort different than those that have come before? What are your authorities with regard to PF? Are you singularly focused on PF? What are your additional development duties? What is to keep you from being moved to whatever the next new game is Spartan's flavor of the month? Are you authorized to provide the community regular updates? How are you empowered to correct the problems that Spartan clearly suffers from? Tell us a story Mike. Tell us why this time will be different, not just that it will be different.
  11. Linde, Thanks for the post. To be clear, I want to make sure I understand what expectations I should have. Spartan Neil posted in Sept in this forum that we should see PF 2.0 rules by the end of the year/first part of 2017. What I hear you saying is that you will have some pre-release models to show us in March, 6-7 months after his post and no mention of new rules. Am I understanding this correctly?
